304/304L Stainless Steel Sheet
Both 304 and 304L stainless steel sheets are widely used stainless steel materials, while 304L is a low-carbon plate of 304 stainless steel plates. They all have good corrosion resistance, heat resistance, low-temperature strength and mechanical properties, and are easy to process and weld, but there are obvious differences between 304 and 304L stainless steel sheets in terms of material, chemical composition, performance and use. 1. Material: 304 and 304L are both austenitic stainless steels, but their carbon content is different. 2.Chemical composition: The carbon content of 304L is less than 0.03%; while the carbon content of 304 is less than 0.08%. Therefore, 304L stainless steel has a lower carbon content than 304 stainless steel. 3.Performance: Under normal conditions, the corrosion resistance of the two is similar. However, after welding or stress relief, 304L stainless steel has excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion. Its lower carbon content reduces the carbides . 4. precipitated in the heat-affected zone near the weld, effectively improving the resistance of stainless steel to intergranular corrosion. Ability to extend the service life of stainless steel welds. 5. Usage: Due to the above differences, 304L stainless steel is mainly used for welding processes, while 304 stainless steel is widely used in various fields. In general, 304L stainless steel plates are better than 304 stainless steel plates in corrosion resistance, especially during welding or other processing.
