304L Stainless Steel Bar
Type 1.4301 and 1.4307 stainless steels are also known as grades 304 and 304L respectively. Type 304 is the most versatile and widely used stainless steel. It is still sometimes called by its old name 18/8, derived from Type 304's nominal composition of 18% chromium and 8% nickel. Type 304 stainless steel is an austenitic grade that can be subjected to severe deep drawing. This characteristic has made 304 the dominant grade used in applications such as sinks and pans. Type 304L is a low carbon version of 304. It is used on large gauge components to improve solderability. Certain products, such as sheet and tubing, are available as "dual certified" material that meets both 304 and 304L standards. 304H is a higher carbon variant that can also be used at high temperatures. The property data given in this document are typical for bar and shape products covered by EN 10088-3:2005. ASTM, EN or other standards may cover the products sold. Specifications in these standards may reasonably be expected to be similar but not necessarily identical to those given in this data sheet.
