Cold Rolled Stainless Steel Strip

Cold-rolled stainless steel strip refers to hot-rolled stainless steel strip that has undergone additional processing to improve its mechanical properties and dimensional properties. During cold rolling, cooled, hot-rolled stainless steel is passed through a set of rolls at room temperature. Since the material is no longer malleable and hot, higher pressure is required to help compress it into the desired shape. Although the cold rolled stainless strip process is considerably more costly and more labor intensive, it can achieve higher surface quality and tighter dimensional tolerances. Cold-rolled stainless steel is 20% stronger than hot-rolled stainless steel, making it perfect for high-stress applications.
